Year 4’s Sing Dance Leap Workshop with the Royal Ballet and Opera
In October the children from Year 4 had the opportunity to take part in a ‘Dream-catching’ workshop with the Royal Ballet and Opera, based in London. As part of the activities the children read and responded to Ian McMillan’s poem ‘Leap’ and had then showed their response in dance. The children worked with a poet to create their own poem based on their hopes and dreams about Bradford. The children’s thoughts and ideas have been taken back to London where a team from the Royal Ballet and Opera will use them to inspire a new piece of music and dance to be performed in Bradford in 2025. The children had a great time working with these professionals and had the chance to have their voices heard.

At the start of May the children in Year 4 all became evacuees for the day. We dressed as children from the 1940s complete with name tags, gas mask boxes and evacuee suitcases. It was a really fun day during which we made ‘Carrot cookies’ to help us see during the blackout; assembled and flew model spitfire planes; and became a land army by weeding the school garden.
