Music
At HSTB, we love music because it opens the doorway to creative expression. We want our children to have:
- A love of music.
- A wide and rich musical experience.
- The opportunity to learn a musical instrument.
- A belief that they can sing.
- A bank of musical knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own musical works of art.
- Opportunities to perform for a variety of audiences and to see live performances
- A belief that there are no barriers to music – anyone can be a musician.
- The courage to find their own rhythm!
- Music Development Plan
Listening to Music
Each half term as we enter and leave assembly or as we are tidying our classroom, we listen to a different genre or style of music.
Please find the music that we are listening to below:
School Year 2023 – 24
Autumn 1B 2023 – Classic British
Autumn 1A 2023 – Classical European
School Year 2022-23
Summer 3A 2023 – British Tradition, Last Night of the Proms, Coronation & Trooping the Colour
African Drumming
In the Autumn Term Year 3 and 4 took part in African drumming workshops. We played djembe drums and practised playing in unison and listening and watching closely so we could stay together. We also sang a call and response song.
Creative Curriculum Day
At the beginning of the year we all got the chance to work with Miss Britchford in a Music session. We did lots of different activities, including ‘Pulse Detective’, call and response with ‘Step Back Baby’ and playing along with popular songs on the boomwhackers. It was a lot of fun!
Plumber Drummer
Earlier in the year we were visited by The Plumber Drummer. He showed us his specially designed drumming equipment which is made up from plumbing pipes of all different sizes. We really loved listening and dancing along to his tunes.
