RE in our church school

St Barnabas CE Primary is a popular and thriving church school in the Heaton area of Bradford where parents, staff and governors work closely together as a school family to make sure that all pupils have a positive experience and achieve their full potential.

Our ethos builds on the Church of England foundation of the school, promoting the belief that every individual has the right to be nurtured so that they can grow and flourish in their lives.

The dedicated staff team at St Barnabas provide a wide range of lessons and activities in order to enhance learning. We work hard to make sure that all our pupils, regardless of gender, class, additional support need, religion or ethnic heritage have equal access to a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum and are provided with opportunities to develop their sense of self-worth, increase their self-esteem and grow in confidence. They are given rich opportunities to experience a wide range of visits to other areas, museums, and network with other schools in Bradford, Nationally and in Spain to broaden their understanding and respect for differing cultures and practises.

RE is a core subject and, as a church school, is at the heart of our curriculum. Our RE curriculum is determined by the Diocese and is broad and balanced, ensuring coverage of both Christianity and other major wold faiths. In Key Stage 1 we study Judaism, Years 3 and 4 we study Hinduism and Years 5 and 6 study Islam. As part of these studies we also visit the places of worship related to those faiths to set our learning in context.

Keeping our pupils safe is one of the most important aspects of our work and we take Safeguarding very seriously, if you need any further information please see our Safeguarding page or click this link to visit the NSPCC website directly.
