News and Events

Dear Parents / Carers,

Happy New Year and welcome back to school!

Our new topic is ‘Bear’s Big Adventure!’ We will be enjoying a range of lovely stories, poetry and non-fiction books focusing on bears, as well as baking biscuit bears in DT and creating some beautiful artwork, learning how to mix colours and exploring various techniques. We will also be hosting a Teddy Bear’s Picnic! Look out for the date.

This term we will be progressing to writing in simple sentences and using our phonics knowledge to support this. Please continue to read with your children at home and practise their phonics sounds regularly. We will soon be sending additional homework. This will include some of the words we have been learning to read and write in phonics lessons and there will also be a maths challenge too. Please have fun doing this together at home!

A polite reminder that PE and Library are on a TUESDAY. Children need to wear their PE Kits when they come to school. PE kit is black trousers or shorts and a white t-shirt (please ensure they are named). Remember to send Library books back so they can be changed.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please speak to a member of the team and we will be happy to help.

Our Learning

Our woodland Walk
We had a fantastic time at the woods together (if a little chilly!). We had a competition to find the biggest and smallest leaves with some great finds! We then worked in teams to build homes for the “Bog babies” that we had made in class earlier in the week. We can’t wait to visit again later in the year to look at all the seasonal changes. The best bit was definitely the hot chocolate and biscuits!

Now we know the routines and expectations of school, we have been busy getting stuck into our lessons! We’ve been lucky enough to have a feelings workshop, visit the Church, enjoy PE lessons, learn through daily maths and phonics and we even got to make our own pizzas! We’re looking forward to the rest of the term with Christmas just round the corner…

We’ve been having a lot of fun these first few weeks! We have looked at numbers, name writing and exploring all our areas of provision. We can’t wait to explore our learning further over the coming weeks.
